Can I copy parallel passage references (starting with \r) from one model text (or resource text) to a vernacular project, as it is possible to do with cross references, using Tools, Cross References?

There is currently no tool in Paratext that does this easily. When cross references are inserted, they are placed at the beginning of a verse. However, with the parallel passage references (\r) these need to go before the verse and paragraph marks.

There was a tool for inserting expressions that could possibly be used to get the \r into the general area, but then you would still need to move it.

Another option would be to search for all \r in the base text and then manually move them.

Could we use the cross ref insertion tool and then follow that up by a regex find and replace to move the \r.

What I am suggesting is capture the paragraph marker with the verse marker and verse number, then capture the parallel passage reference line (\r). Once captured, swap the two sets of matches. Something like.

  1. Find and capture in a group a paragraph levelmarker, followed by a return, followed by a verse marker with space then nonspace text which would be the verse number, followed by a space
  2. …then capture the \r reference markup in a 2nd group.

On the replace side, swap group 1 and 2. Make sure line breaks are appropriately set.

I see this was posted in 2015.

Is there an option to insert the parallel passage reference in Paratext 8?
I have seen [Email Removed] wrote a python code for PText 6 and 7 for inserting parallel passage reference. It no longer works in Paratext 8. Can any one in this list has a tweak? please let me know. I have anon467281’s code in my computer.
