For a year or so I have been unable to successfully update Paratext 8 after I receive a notice to do so. I get the following error message:

“Please close running instances of Paratext before running this update. This dialog will close automatically after Paratext has been closed.”

I am running Windows 10 using all updates from Microsoft.

The Paratext update file which my computer attempts to install is:

35f9beea.msi

How can I install this?

Thanks,

Sometimes Paratext gets stuck when shutting down - you can use the Task Manager to see if it’s still running even though the window is closed.

Once you have confirmed that Paratext is not running, you can manually run the patch that should be here:

C:\Users{userName}\AppData\Local\Paratext80\ParatextUpdate

I just installed PT9 and find that it uses significantly more resources than PT8 Not only when it is running, but ... way it uses resources seems excessive. Thanks for any advice.
