preface: I coordinate training opportunities for translation personnel in Lutheran Bible Translators. I was asked about the upcoming Paratext training at the BT Conference this fall (i.e. the conference in Dallas from October 11-15, 2019), whether it would have anything geared toward “heavy users”.

question: What topics will be covered at this training (October 7-9, 2019)? Will it be orientation level—i.e. “to do this, click here”—or more for those who are already using Paratext but would like to learn how to use it more effectively to achieve translation project goals? The phrase “best practice use” in the training event description suggests the latter but I wanted to confirm.

Which “BT Conference” are you referring to?

The one in Dallas, Texas from October 11-15, 2019. The training is from October 7-9.

Is that an SIL event? or multi-agency?

I’m an attender, not an organizer, so I can’t say for sure. For more information on the Bible Translation Conference, see this page: https://www.btconference.org/home

OK, it really is just called the Bible Translation Conference! I thought you were genericising the name :grinning:

It’s run by Dallas International University, formerly the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics, which in turn was set up by SIL (https://www.diu.edu/about-us/history/). I don’t know if DIU is a part of SIL or a separate organisation.

From everything I know, it’s definitely “multi-agency”.

If anyone knows who will be leading and/or organizing this particular training session, please let me know so that I can contact them directly for more details.
