For ages now I’ve noticed that some operations cause the main PT window to disappear for a second or two; instead I see the windows that are underneath the main PT window.

This does not happen with any other program that I use, and I find it rather distracting: for example, my first thought might be: has PT crashed?

I can’t remember what operations cause this, but I’ll append them to this topic when I do.

I think this is a bug in .Net, but it could also be related to the complications of managing focus with the Firefox controls embedded inside Paratext. Either way, I think it would be difficult to fix (especially without a reproducible scenario).

Well, I’m sure that what I see is reproducible! It happens quite often, so I’ll soon find an operation that causes it.

It happens to me every time I open a new project or resource in its own window: PT disappears, and reappears after about one second.

This IS reproducible. Using the current updated version of PT8.0 (.100.75 today) I have noticed the same behaviour for several months, if not more. Every time I do a search in PT, the main PT window disappears, or put another way, another program, like Word or Chrome that happens to be open flashes on top. Then PT comes back to the top and finally the ‘Items found’ pane appears on top. I’m wondering if its a symptom of having a 1920x1080 resolution screen on my Win10 Dell XPS notebook. There are other functions of PT that consistently cause a similar “dance of the windows” for me and delay getting my work done. I have assumed my problem is unique as I can’t imagine many users tolerating such a distraction. - Mark Weathers.
