Did I hear somewhere that there are two types of registration for PT 7 – one that gets you all the resources, and one that gives you only the program itself? (The latter being for organisations that would not qualify to get all the copyrighted material included in the resources.)

Here’s something from a presentation on PT 8, but I’m still interested in the answer to my question on PT 7.

Full presentation is here (link is from anon938849 Cochran’s posting on the LTSgg Google group).

Flavors of release (access levels)

  • ParaTExt Publisher edition - Full Suite of tools - S/R, Glossing tool, Concordance and Names index builder, Publishing Assistant, Training, Support
  • ParaTExt Translator edition (initial grant) - S/R (sandbox only - until approval), Glossing tool (initially but could be revoked if no approval)
  • ParaTExt Student edition - No S/R, Glossing tool, can use training materials that are on the ParaTExt web site and can report bugs, etc but no training or support

For Paratext 7, there is only one registration level and that includes access to all of the resources.

Actually, there is a no resource license that can be requested in Paratext 7.

Yes, you are correct, anon397352. I was incorrect to say that there is only one type of license in Paratext 7.

There is actually a no-resource license registration that someone can request for Paratext 7. The Paratext user name would end in the three characters " nr" (that is, a space followed by “nr”).

Sometimes this type of license is referred to as an unencumbered license.
