A typesetter is attempting to typeset a study Bible in PA6, but even in merely generating the InDesign tagged-text files, he gets this warning:

Warning!: SampleJob: JUD - Unknown or wrongly placed markers found and converted to style ‘unknown’ - \v, \v, \v, \v, \v, \v, \v, \v, \v, \v, \v, \v, \v, \v, \v, \v, \v, \v, \v, \v, \v, \v, \v, \v, \v

As may be expected after a warning like this, the markers come through in InDesign in pink, wrapped in asterisks.
Capture

There is nothing unusual about marker use. Marker and chapter-verse checks are fine. The same problem occurs in books that have study Bible material as in those without it. This happens no matter which stylesheet is used, including None.

The standard project on which this study Bible is based does not have this problem.

The …_debug_postChanges.txt file shows exactly the normal USFM.

\c 1

But the …_debug_body_preFinalChanges.txt file shows that it’s already been treated as unknown:

<ParaStyle:p><CharStyle:unknown>****\\v****<CharStyle:> 2
<ParaStyle:p><CharStyle:unknown>****\\v****<CharStyle:> 3

It seems that this problem must have something to do with the project being a Study Bible, but I’ve never typeset one before, so I’m at a loss for what’s happening.

Any ideas what else to try?

In case anyone is
interested, the problem was caused by a space in the “Extra
Material” field in Scripture Reference settings.
