We have some teams/projects that are ready to publish a number of books using Paratext 8 (not a full NT yet), but last we heard Publishing Assistant 6 was not available.

Is there a date when it might be available? Would it be possible to get access to a Beta version? These teams are very familiar with Beta versions of Paratext, so they would understand the limitations of using Beta software.

Thanks,

My understanding is that there is a new release of Publishing Assistant, and it is no longer Beta. Can someone confirm that? However, you should read the warnings on the Publishing Assistant website, and make sure you have the right version of NET Framework installed, 4.6.2 or higher.

PA 5.1 and PA 6.0 are still in beta.

Assistant 6 [Questions]

PADev, is there any update on this news of 22 Sept? I have teams working up to typesetting (final checking of NTs), and they are experiencing problems using Paratext 7.6 with Paratext 7.5. So if Pub Assistant is ready, and can be used for typesetting from Paratext 8, they’d like to migrate the project as soon as possible. But they also must have a publishing pathway open.

PA 5.1 and PA 6.0 are still in beta. I am closely monitoring the “user
experience” to identify and fix problems as they come up. There are a
number of people currently using PA 5.1 and PA 6.0 for real typesetting
jobs, but they experience problems from time to time.

Assistant 6 [Questions]

PADev, do you have any update to what you wrote in November 2017? Would you advise us to migrate two projects, that are NT projects, about to enter final checking? Typesetting expected to begin in October 2018. we believe the checking tools and overall environment will be easier and better for the translators, but want some assurance that it’ll be possible to typeset from Paratext 8, using whatever is the latest version of Publishing Assistant 6.0 in October.

PA 6 is still in beta. It has had a number of users and AFAIK they’ve
all be able to complete their typesetting jobs satisfactorily. You
should be fine if you convert these two projects.
