There have been some shifts of personnel between organizations in Nigeria such that people approved as SIL in Africa for Paratext 7 are now Seed Company. The result is that when they apply for Paratext 8 they are automatically approved as SIL in Africa when they should be Seed Company. The different organizations have different approval and timing plans for Paratext 8 and so these people must be moved to their proper organization.
I do not see a way forward on the site to do so. I am allowed to “Move” them but not reject them and I cannot move them to an organization I don’t have permissions for. Likewise, Seed Company cannot access the record to move him either since they don’t have permission.
While this has happened only once so far, I expect that there will be a number of people needing to be moved this way, those who register for themselves and just accept what comes up rather than changing organzations on the registration page. Unfortunately, we have all clicked through websites without reading every line and many will not even realize the implications of their choice.
Something to note is that this person, Benjamin Gimba, actually tried to do it correctly and failed anyway. He properly used his organization email address and properly put LIST as his Entity. He just didn’t make the final Seed Company choice in the drop down. Perhaps as well as providing a way for me to reject these people nicely, the site could respond to his entity email address by rejecting him with a nice explanatory note.

Shegnada, when you say that you can’t move them to an org you don’t have permissions for, are you saying that the move button doesn’t work, or that you have a problem doing it in principle?

You have an opportunity to reject a user when they apply to your org and were not previously a P7 user in your org. When they are automatically approved, it is because they have a valid P7 license. Since they are already vetted, it is appropriate for you to move them to the proper organization.

Shegnada,

If you want I can revoke his license with SIL Africa. I do have that authority.

You have that authority with NBTT.

This does not only happen in Africa or with the Seed Companay and SIL. We are running into a similar problem in the Pacific.
So in general, what is the proper procedure, if someone has a license through an organization such as SIL, that they should not have, (they got it it because it was upgraded from PT7, how do they change that?

Or if someone has a PT 8 license without an organization and thus with very limited resources and they then join an organization what do we do. Most of the translators in our fall in this category. We are hoping to register a loacl organization but unnitl then they will have a limited PT 8 license.

So what do we do? Delete their license and then re-register?
I am just the project coordinator - i need to know what to do on the user level.
