I was told that we would be able to register other people for PT8, and I need to be able to register users (mostly PT7 users) for my country.

I go to registry.paratext.org and after I type the email address, I am prompted for their google password.

Do I need the google password for everyone I need to register?

Is there another method or web site for what I need?

Thanks

If you log in as yourself and go to the Users tab, you should see a button near the top called Register New User. You can use this button to register other users.

Beware that users created this way can not register projects. It is strongly suggested that users register themselves, if possible.

EDIT:

This feature is designed to handle users who have no access to the internet or, for some other similar reason, can not register themselves. It is not designed for someone to bulk-create users and is strongly discouraged for this purpose (thus why they can’t register projects). Users should register themselves if at all possible.

Not what I am looking for, thanks,

If you are trying to bulk-add users to the Registry, sorry, but there is no way to do that without asking them all for their passwords - not good practice, of course. :worried:

One strategy is for you to register users directly in the registry, giving them limited permissions. Not what you are looking for, BUT – this can get you what you want. When you register them in this way, they get run through the approval process, get accepted, and are given registration codes.

Then, you can have them register themselves at a later time using their email address and the Paratext 8 code you received. They will be approved immediately.

Not sure why you are registering for them, but often people want to be prepared for a workshop by having the codes all in advance. This will get you there because on Day 1 of the workshop, everyone can activate the codes you have already received and have full privileges.

The 13 Papua New Guinean translators that I need to move from PT7 to PT8 do not have email service, nor do they have access to the internet beyond Send/Receive in PT.

When I go to the Register New User page on the https://registry.paratext.org/users site, it doesn’t seem right since he is a current PT7 user. But I filled out the page for him. When I click Create, I get this error message:
Error: Error: PT7 registration code required [400].

What do I need to do?

Thanks,
John

When you fill in the New User form, if what you enter in the First Name and Last Name fields, match a Paratext 7 registration name, a Paratext 7 Registration Code field will pop up. You have to enter the correct Paratext 7 registration code for the person in that field for the registration to be successful.

Thanks for your help. The internet is very expensive to use here in PNG, so I have many options turned off (pictures, videos, pop-up windows, etc, etc). You telling me what is supposed to happen, let me know to open the floodgates. And it worked!
