How can I mark cross references that use the full name instead of an abbreviation (or vice versa)?

In many projects the teams use abbreviations for cross references, but occasionally want to use the short name. Often this happens in introductions or footnotes. How can that be handled?   (Answer to follow.)

Generally it is desirable to mark cross references in Paratext so that a user on a digital tool can locate that reference. However, Paratext only allows one form for the book name. When a project is set to use abbreviations for the cross-references, but occasionally uses the full name, this can be handled by using the | (pipe).

En Éxodo 20:11 no se da este significado,

In the above example, marking the text with \xt ...\xt* will result in an error. The correct way to mark the text would be:

En \xt Éxodo 20:11|EXO 20:11\xt* no se da este significado,

The text following the | should be the three character code for the book (upper or lower case).
