This morning as I was starting a zoom session, Paratext crashed. I think I started screen sharing and was navigating to the right scripture reference at the same time.  I was using PT 9.5.1.101 (I think, can't access it now) on Windows 11.  Here are details on the computer:

Processor AMD Ryzen 7 5700U with Radeon Graphics          (1.80 GHz)
Installed RAM 64.0 GB (63.3 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

And Windows Installation:

Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 24H2
Installed on ‎2/‎9/‎2025
OS build 26100.4652
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.128.0

Restarting Paratext did not help.  (I was able to use an old computer for the zoom session, so we only lost half an hour.)
I tried repairing the installation by uninstalling and reinstalling it (with and without retaining the settings). Nothing helped.
This window pops up when trying to open Paratext:

When I click OK  it sends an error report (or at least it says it does). Then the next pop-up opens:

Has anyone else run into this? What can I do?

We are sorry for the difficulty that a bad update to the IMG_INDX.mxv1z has caused. We are in the process of doing an upgrade of the Enhanced Resource data and an incompatibility between the current Paratext and the new code in process was mistakenly introduced.

A corrected file has been put on the server, so there won't be problems with getting updates for Enhanced Resources.

For those that did get the bad file, you will have to delete the bad file to allow Paratext to start. The full path is:

C:\My Paratext 9 Projects\_Resources\IMG_INDX.mxv1z

When you restart Paratext you will get a message stating that this file is missing.

To get the Enhanced Resources working again, you will need to open Download/Install resources and select some resource to download. If you have already received all updates, you will need to delete a resource and re-download it.

The corrected version of IMG_INDEX.mxv1z will be downloaded along with the resource.

Updating the image index seems to have created an update tag for all the currently-installed ERs. You should only need to update one of them to get the updated image index. I can confirm that the updated image index works.

Thank you for your prompt help.

Everything works normally now after deleting the mentioned file and then redownloading one of the Enhanced Resources.

Thank you for fixing this! All good now.

I am experiencing the same thing. I was using Paratext (9.5.101.3) for about 2 hours (till UTC0215) and everything worked fine. Then, after stopping for a while, when I returned (at about UTC0400) I noticed that the icon for Paratext had changed, so I closed and attempted to reopen and got exactly the same error messages. I came here looking for a solution.

I am not alone. :)
The time of your crash is very close to (if not the same as) the time mine crashed.

The strange thing is that the error message refers to an F: drive. My system doesn't have an F: drive.

Had the similar thing happen about 8 o'clock my time (GMT+2).

It happened when opening ParaTExt normally.
Yesterday I worked on it, and it worked fine.

This morning it refuses to open.
Same with OP, uninstall and reinstall (with and without settings) does not work.

I was using ParaTExt 9.4, but 9.5 has the same issue.

I get the same error, but some of them with different numbers at the end.
I also do not have an F: drive.

I tried system restore to three days earlier. Strangely, it did not fix the problem.

We're looking into what happened.
I think the current work-around is to manually delete the ER image index until we figure out how to fix this.

To do that, delete the file C:\My Paratext 9 Projects\_Resources\IMG_INDX.mxv1z.
Paratext will likely give a warning message, but it should, at least, start up.

Thank you, that did get me back into Paratext.  Enhanced resources won't open, but at least I can work without enhanced resources.
