I asked about adding spaces to modules earlier (https://support.bible/12728/add-a-space-between-heading-and-reference-in-module), but I'm now facing a different situation where the solution provided there doesn't work...

Given: \ref PSA 122:1-2 \bd R\bd*

how do I get an extra space (or two or three) between the final punctuation of the \ref (inherited from the text in Paratext) and the 'R'?

I've tried putting an extra space (indicated by _ in what follows) between the final digit and \bd (\rem PSA 122:1-2 _\bd R\bd*), between \bd and R (\rem PSA 122:1-2 \bd _R\bd*), adding things like U+2003 (Em Space) in those positions, and more. Nothing I've tried yet has worked... Right now I'm toying with the idea of using the least obtrusive 'character' I can find (so far U+A78F 'Sinological dot'), but a real space would be preferred.

Is there a way to do this? Thanks for any help!

EDIT: I kept mucking around and just found that if I add a 'blank' \it \it*, it adds a space to the PrintDraft output! I'm still interested in other solutions, but I think this will work for now. :-)

I was able to accomplish this in PT9.5 with white space turned on (Warning - everyone on the project must update to 9.5 if you turn on white space).

I added a zwj before the R and then added a long space after that. I accomplished this by placing my cursor before the R and typing 200D (Alt+X) and then 2003 (Alt+X) The result looks like:

This then adds the space in the preview.

Thanks Phil. I should have mentioned, though, that I use Linux, so I'm still mostly with PT8 / 9.0... I tried 200D (Alt-X) and then 2003 (Alt-X) in the Module in PT8, and I think the 'zero width joiner' helped the long space to stick (previously, it just got stripped out...), BUT for some reason the 'R' with the zwj + long space in front got bumped up to the end of the preceding line!? Too weird.

I still wonder if there anything that would work in an earlier version?
