I'm looking for help with the proper formatting for verse segments (e.g., 1a, 1b, 1c, etc.) in Paratext. I'm working on modules that require them. Ideally, PTXprint will also recognise them.

So far I have filled in 'Verse segment characters' in 'Other Characters' of 'Language Settings' in Paratext, but I don't know where to go from there... There's nothing I can find in the USFM 3.0.0 documentation. I found "How do I implement a custom versification for my project?" in Help, but it didn't help me much. If you have any advice / tips, I'm all ears! Thanks,

Paul

If you have added segments in the language settings > other characters tab then you should be able to go to the text and add these segments in the proper locations. This means that the actual text should be \v 1a ...... \v 1b ....

If you are trying to use the Module references and they are written with verse segments, the text must have those segments. The other option is to simply use the entire verse.

Thanks for the reply, Phil.
I went ahead and put \v 9a and \v 9b in Paratext in the desired locations. And in my module I have:
\b \p \bd Old Testament\bd*
\p \it Aesaea 50:4-9a\it*
\ref ISA 50:4-9a
But PTXprint doesn't seem to recognise the segment marker in the \ref line, and instead prints the remainder of the chapter... It does, however, print the verse segment markers, like:
9a Na Maneka Iaue ti te thangau—a thi ke ngaoa na para ghagua?
I geira a thi tara ngaoa na vaghuru ni vithughui ba kara taigha na tangomana,
9b ba kara veghe na tivi te kuta me ghani sokoa na muthu.”
Verse 9 with both segments marked could work—we could depend on the reader to know when to quit; but printing the rest of the chapter probably wouldn't... So I changed the \ref line in my module to this:
\b \p \bd Old Testament\bd*
\p \it Aesaea 50:4-9a\it*
\ref ISA 50:4-9
but now PTXprint stops at verse 8!
Maybe you have a suggestion for how to get around this?
