Our NT (Onobasulu, PNG) will be typeset in 2 column layout. Nevertheless, we also will have some passages (e.g. poetry) in 1 column layout. To change from one to the other, we were advised to add custom markers (\z1col-s & \z1col-e). This works fine.
The only thing is that we now are getting errors, e.g. LUK 1:46 Empty marker \z1col-s.

Is there an "elegant" way to tell Paratext that this is fine, or the brute force method of "deny error message"?

The -s and -e endings on those markers indicates that they are milestone markers. When you created the entry in the stylesheet, did you include that information?
\StyleType Milestone

It's extremely possible that the Paratext checks have never been updated to deal with milestones. They're a recent addition (USFM 3.0, I think) and I know that I've had trouble with them in PT.

Thanks for your response, and I apologize for not coming back to it earlier.
I tried to define "\z1col-s " and "\z1col-e" as Milestones - the only effect were that PT doesn't read them as markers at all, but just shows the plain text.
There are not too many of those in the NT, so I can deny them manually. No worries.
