In Paratext 8.0 (and later), you can install plugins in Paratext.

Any plugins you install will appear when you point to Advanced on the Tools menu.

If you want to create a plugin, useful information for doing so is found in the following link: https://bitbucket.org/paratext/paratext-demo-plugins/wiki/Home.

It would be really useful to have a link here to a list of available plugins – if one exists. If not, maybe we should make one! (Click :heart: below to vote for a list.)

The only plugins I know of are:

  • Transcelerator – for semi-automating the process of translating the questions used in comprehension checking;
  • Pathway – for exporting from PT to the open document (odf), e-book (epub 2.0), portable document (pdf), TeX and J2ME (jar) formats.

Perhaps this statement needs to be revised: for example, Pathway appears on the File menu, not Tools.

Apart from the support form, is there any Help for Transcelerator? I downloaded it from https://software.sil.org/transcelerator/ ; the installation instructions there are very brief, and do not explain the following, for example:

  • Whether the Transcelerator should be started from within PT itself, or from the Start menu;
  • If the former, where to find it on the menus;
  • Whether PT needs to be restarted after installing Transcelerator.

Would it be appropriate for this site to have help on Transcelerator, and also be a place to discuss Transcelerator and ask questions about it? I’m asking this of the site administrators, but click :heart: below if you’re an ordinary user of the site if you think this would be an appropriate place.

No, Transcelerator has it’s own support site on the SIL Language Software Community.

Ah, I should have looked. (Though I think that the page with the support form should also point you to the community site, no :interrobang:)

@anon291708 or others: any comment on whether there is, or should be, a list of plugins?

There is no list of plugins that I know of. To my knowledge, besides the demo plugins, there are only two or three in existence. The only one I know about that is not listed above is the Generate Ethnos 360 Map Creator Data plugin.
