Why should I use a local dedicated Paratext Live server?

If you choose not to use the Internet server for Paratext Live, the Paratext Live server would normally be the computer of the person who starts the first session on a local area network. A Paratext Live session started in this way ends or stops responding if any of the following happen on that computer:

• The user leaves the session or exits Paratext.
• The computer hibernates.
• The computer becomes disconnected from the local area network.

This can be problematic. To minimize such problems, in Paratext 7.4 (and later), you can start a Paratext Live session on a local dedicated Paratext Live server.

Paratext does not require user registration when you start the Paratext Live server.
