According to the Paratext documentation, an Auxiliary project can have different users than the project it is ‘Based on’.

Is there anything against sharing just the Auxiliary project, without sharing the base project?

When (if ever) would this become a problem?

If the admin of the Auxiliary project was not an admin in the base project, but they wanted to change something in project properties, they would not be allowed to do that. The aux project inherits the properties of the base project, only an admin on that project can change the properties.
