Dear all,
I would like some advice on how to link glossary entries with sub entries like Herod or Jacob to the Biblical Terms module. Firstly, why am I a trying to achieve this? We all know this of course:

  1. To be able to insert \w \w* automatically into the text,
  2. Resulting in a symbol in the text referring to the glossary,
  3. Resulting in a symbol, that Scripture App Builder uses to display the glossary entry on the screen.

In case of Jacob, the main glossary entry is Jacob the son of Isaac, and as sub-entries the other three Jacobs in the NT (see below in this email)

Now, what I think will happen with this setup is that every Yakuba in the Bible will receive \w \w* around them. In case of the printed Bible that is not a big problem because it will all refer to the one glossary entry and there the reader will find the right information.

I case of the App-Bible however, for each Jacob the whole glossary entry pops up. A real case of too much information. So the question is, is there a way to avoid this ?

I have a partial answer already which can be applied for Herod, which is always in the Biblical test says Herod the Great, when it is Herod the Great and always say Herod Antipas when it is … But for the Jacobs it will not work. In Mark Jacob is introduced once as the son of Zebedeus and the just referred to as Jacob. We do not want to change the Biblical text for the sake of the glossary.

So, any tips are very welcome.

goodgoan.

Linking words to the Glossary and then marking them in Paratext is a pretty straight forward processes that does contain some possible issues. Here is a Quick Tip video on how to link a Glossary entry:
