I use a projector in workshop checking, to show the text on the wall for the whole team to see. I have to zoom into the text of the translation in order for the words to be clearly visible to others. This is easy and I can do it with no problem, but as soon as I change chapters, it zooms back out again. It is getting annoying, as some of my projects are getting into quality checking, and we have to change chapters a lot as we work through the various checks. I keep having to stop and zoom back in again. It didn’t used to do this, so is it a bug? If so I will send a bug report. But I am wondering if I’m just doing something wrong, or if I need to fix a setting or something.

You can change the font size in Paratext in two places, on the fly with ctrl + and ctrl -, and in the language settings (Project/Language Settings). If you change it the language settings, it will apply to many more windows and stick until changed. Ctrl + is more temporary so I don’t know if unsticking when changing a chapter when using that is a bug or not.

There are two other settings that are helpful with a projector. You should adjust your screen resolution down by right-clicking on the desktop in Windows and choosing display settings. I used to adjust to higher numbers till someone showed me that lower numbers are better.

Also, Win + and Win – work the same as Ctrl + and Ctrl – except they zoom in the whole screen. I find that extremely helpful but something to practice ahead of the class.

There are a couple questions here.

  1. What version of Paratext are you using?
  2. How are you doing the zoom? (Ctrl +) or something else?

In PT8 and PT9, when I zoom out in a project and then change chapters the zoom doesn’t change so I’m not sure what you are actually seeing.

As Shegnada notes, if the issue is that you want the text of your project to stay larger, then I’d recommend you change the size of the font in the language settings. This of course will affect everyone on the team, but it is easy to change it once before starting you checks and then once after you finish.

I’m using Paratext 8.0.100.75.
I was using Ctrl + the scroll button on my external mouse.

I know I could adjust the font size but I don’t want it to stay that way except during the workshop session when we are all together, and I don’t want to have to keep switching back and forth.

BUT, I am working now during a breaktime and I’m not plugged into the projector at the moment, and it doesn’t seem to be doing it now, so maybe it was something to do with the projector I’m using.
