Did the programmers do something wonderful to speed up Notes?

I have recently noticed that the Notes window opens much faster than it used to. Managing 200+ projects it seemed that PT went through a laundry list of tasks for each project before it opened the Notes window. Now it opens almost immediately, which is really very helpful. It changes the way I work because I no longer need to avoid putting in notes.

Thanks to all these unsung Bible translation heroes for the wonderful work you are doing to continuously debug, improve, and expand the capabilities of this great tool

I came here, having seen the subject-line, hoping that the post was not badly sarcastic. I noticed last week that our notes have become really slow. Talking about those little (default) red flags in the main text: Right click and select “add a new note”. Takes several seconds on a normal not-lame desktop to even open a new blank window for typing a note.

Opening existing notes also takes seconds and it is beginning to worry, because I am not talking about hundreds of projects but one young project which is still learning about all the tools in PT8. Hope we are doing it right here.

We have all the updates, except the very last one which only came out on Friday last week.

@Tim I only noticed the difference after I installed 8.0.100.67. (I am signed up to receive prerelease updates.) Hopefully installing 8.0.100.67 is all you need to do.

There were two issues with notes. One was this issue (fixed a while ago), and another, more recent fix, was similar in nature (after creating a blank language for an unknown language ID, it wasn’t remembered).

I’m sure the whole development team is glad those fixes helped you.

@Tim, If the [Phone Removed]update does not help, please use Help > Report a problem right after the problem occurs. Hopefully the log file will have some indication of what is going on.

@anon291708 So far it was never too bad, I only noticed last week that notes took “longish”. So today I installed version …67 on two machines.

Now, it feels indeed faster but each window setup is different, so this is not scientific. The first time in a certain chapter, it takes more time to bring up the notes-window. But if I need it again in the same chapter, it comes up almost immediately, which is very nice. (We have many notes in each chapter in this phase of this project.)

So not a problem at all. And probably good news. I can join @CrazyRocky and say that PT is muchly appreciated and is a good tool to work with, even for many hours at a time.
