Paratext 7 pop-up to download Paratext 8

Question

Quick (hopefully) question. Each time I open PT7, I am prompted (twiceǃ) to download PT8 before it finishes opening. As I already have PT8 downloaded and installed, this is an unnecessary annoyance (mostly because the window tends to open below other open windows, doesn’t show in my task bar, and won’t open PT7 until I find these windows and click ‘no’). Does anyone know how to get rid of these pop-up windows?

Did you by any chance have a beta version of PT8 installed before you
installed the current version? There were steps necessary to install the
release version that if you failed to follow might cause you some issues
(don’t know if this is one or not).

You might try uninstalling PT8 and then reinstalling. However, if you had
the beta version you should follow the instructions regarding beta at
https://pt8.paratext.org/download/currentversion/

I didn’t get it until April. I originally installed 8.0.100.1. I’m currently [Phone Removed]So, an uninstall and reinstall, then?

Click on Help, click on Automatically check for updates to uncheck that option.

Then click on Help, Check for Updates, click the link to download the update. Once it is downloaded, close Paratext, apply the update you just downloaded manually.

You can then click on Help, Automatically check for updates again so you automatically get them in the future.

The message you see will no longer appear. There have been a bunch of updates to 7.5 since .29.

Well, PT7 downloaded an update, but I still received those two pop-up boxes when I installed it and reopened PT7.

update-I spoke too soon. Right after I posted this, it gave me a window that it needed to update again, I shut it down, and when I opened it and it updated, no more annoying pop-up boxes.

Nope. No change after uninstalling and reinstalling. Could this be because I haven’t migrated my project to PT8? At this point, we’re not ready to migrate. I only have a test that I’ve been working on to get acquainted to PT8 that I do not want to register.

There was one version of PT7 several months ago that “helpfully” provided this message, but a later update removed the prompt. Are you the latest version of PT7?

The annoying popup was fixed in 7.5.100.87 (see here for history on this issue)
