Do other people notice that 7.6 seems slow when you change verse? I and one other user have noticed this; we both have a text collection and at least two other linked windows (windows in the same group, that advance together).

Although we have had a few users complain about it, we have been unable to duplicate any apparent slowdowns compared to 7.5 (or even 7.4). So I’m sorry to bother you again, but we really need details - the exact windows you had open. This means which projects, what type of window (notes, SLT, BT Renderings, etc.), and any other tools you may have had open (like Biblical Terms, Wordlist, etc.). :disappointed_relieved:

Also, I noticed that the machines don’t have a lot of memory. Paratext 7.6 does use a bit more memory than previous versions. Would you also check to make sure you are not out of memory on the machine (this would mean more than 80% of your maximum being used in Task Manager).

I have been trying out 7.6 in anticipation for switching eventually to Paratext 8 (once it has comparable resources to previous versions). I noticed a significant slow-down for accessing a reference in a search list in 7.6 as compared to 7.5. In 7.5 when double-clicking a reference in the list, it takes about 2 seconds to get to the verse. In 7.6 the same task takes about 4 seconds. (I’m not Windows 10 Creator version.) However, in Paratext 8 the speed of getting to the reference is back up to the 7.5 level. I’m looking forward to the switch to Paratext 8 once some other matters are sorted out.

Which windows do you have open (and linked together)? How slow is slow? Are we talking one second, five seconds, or one minute?

Also, what are the specs of the machine you are on (CPU speed, memory, OS, etc.)?

My colleague’s computer:

  • i3 @ 2.4 GHz, 4 GB RAM, physical hard disk;
  • changinf verse takes 2 s, changing chapter or book takes 4–5 s;
  • 4 linked windows, of which one is a text collection with 9 texts.

My computer:

  • i5 @ 2.4 GHz, 6 GB RAM, PT is on an SSD;
  • changing verses takes 2–4 s, chapter 4s, book 8–12 s;
  • 12 linked windows, including an Interlinearizer and a text collection with 19 texts.

I’m sorry I didn’t give more detail the first time, and I’m aware of the need for this. But my colleague’s impression was that 7.6 was noticeably slower than 7.5 and I was looking for whether other users had that general impression, so I reeled of a post in 2 minutes. Gathering the data above, on the other had, took the best part of 20 minutes.
