I occasionally find parallel passages that are not marked in the Parallel passages tool in Paratext. Is there are team that is continuing to update this tool, and/or a person to contact to make further suggestions?

I have used the “Report a problem” method of pointing out verses that should be added as a parallel. Some users take a very narrow view of what is or isn’t a parallel passage, but for me I like to include illusions, and echos of other passages and not just direct quotes. I think including more helps improve the consistency of a translation and for me that is the main goal of the tool. In Paratext 8 if cross-references (those using \xt and \r) if they are configured correctly can become active links that can be used to help check for consistency, The Parallel passage tool is the best method of checking consistency because it is tied to the Biblical languages.

Thanks for the tips. I agree with you anon044949. I think there is a lot that can be done to help improve consistency.

I found that for some books the parallel passages are very complete. When we did Exodus there were many passages where God told Moses to tell Aaron to tell Pharaoh something, and that something is repeated at least three times. If other books like Jeremiah are not as complete, please go ahead and submit the passages. We can make the tools better if we all contribute.

Probably the best way would be to use Help > Make a Suggestion in Paratext.

It’s a team of one. anon291708’s suggestion is good, but you can also use Help > Report a problem; then the verse you’re on will automatically be entered in the report. It’s helpful if you put “Parallel Passages” in the Title of report.

Be aware that in the tool in Paratext 8, you will get different results based on the scope you have selected. In other words, if you have the NT/NT list selected, you might not see one you were expecting because it also has an OT parallel. In that case, it would show in the OT/NT list. At least this is what I gathered from a recent discussion here: Parallel passages problem

I am in Jeremiah - He likes to repeat himself alot. There are some parallels indicated but not all. There are a lot of repeated phrases also within versets. It would be nice if Paratext could also highlight them some day.
