Migrate/import study content from Word Doc into ParaText

Hi Paratext Community,

I am currently working on a Study Bible based on the ESV Global Study Bible, which we are localizing.

At present, the base Bible text is already available in Paratext, while the extended footnotes, study notes, and sidebars are maintained in Word documents.

I would like to know if there is a recommended way to migrate/import this study content from Word into Paratext, particularly the extended footnotes and sidebars.

Is there any automated or semi-automated workflow, script, or tool available to convert the Word content into the appropriate USFM/Paratext format and align it with the existing Bible text?

If anyone has experience with a similar Study Bible migration or localization project, I would greatly appreciate your guidance, recommendations, or examples of an efficient workflow.

Hi, the ESV copyright information states: "The ESV may not be translated in whole or in part into any other language."
If you have received permission from Crossway to translate the Study Bible they should be able to give you access to the notes.

Thank you, Phil, for your response. Yes, we have obtained permission from Crossway and have completed the localization. We now have the extended study material as well.

Our primary question is regarding the technical migration into Paratext. Is there an automated or semi-automated tool, script, or recommended workflow for converting the Word-based study material into the appropriate USFM/Paratext format and aligning it with the existing Bible text?

Thiyagarajan there is no general workflow that I'm aware of. It depends on on the format of the data in Word. 

I don't work with Study Bible Additions, so probably don't have the best solution. Looking at one of my "test" Study Bible Additions projects it looks like all of the data is stored in .xml files with information connected to the base text. 

Short of copy/paste, I'm not sure how to import that data.
