Why is the first verse number in each chapter not rendered? How to tune?

We are preparing a printed publication of the story of one Biblical character. His story does not start with a new chapter.

So far we had never noticed that on each chapter the number for the very first verse (normally "1") is not displayed. This is something we want to discus with a test-audience. And we want to create two versions: Showing verse 1 number and not showing verse 1 number.

Now for today's special need, we are starting in chapter 15 in verse 33 (as an example). I have managed to display the chapter number 15 in PTXprint through an entry in > Advanced > changes.txt.

Now it looks as if our story starts in chapter 15 at verse 1 (because the verse-number is not showing) and the following verse is showing the number 34 (correctly, of course). So our output is wrong. And puzzling to our readers.

Where is the setting, where I can tweak the display or not-display of those first-verses-per-chapter? For all chapters.
And where can I tweak or override for special cases, like for our story-book.

The options you are looking for are on the "Body" tab. You can "Hide First Verse Number". Make sure this is not checked. You can also choose to "Hide Empty Verses" if needed.

Thank you. Forrest and trees. I had been looking quite intensly at that page full of options and still never noticed it. I even had work to do with the "hide empty verses". My bad.

I can report that PTXprint is very helpful; I got a lot done from first contact in two half-days, while learing about the concepts and where everything is. There is hope for an attractive publication.

One more feedback: The translators-team looked into the locally available Bibel versions today: Many do not show those verse 1, but a good number does render them indeed as 1. So apart from our special case, we need to make a decision. And with your answer, we are free to make the best decision, according to readability aspects, not limited by technology. Nice.

Yes, rather than clicking around on various pages/tabs looking for a particular setting, I would highly recommend using the Search for settings feature on the bottom left of the app.

And when you find the right setting and press Enter, it takes you to the right page and highlights the setting for you!

Yes, thank you. I knew about the search feature. It is being introduced in the very first training videos I believe. 

My mental block was that I was not looking for a feature about "hiding", I was looking for an option to "display" or "show" those verse numbers. I had even typed "verse" in the search and was as blind in the results-list as I was on the options-page.

Could be from the fact that English is still not my first language. So entirely my problem. PTXprint is fine; no need to change anything for that aspect. I found the option and was embarrassed that I had bothered the Forum for this. 

As I will spend more time in the GUI of PTXprint I will find my way around. There are lots of goodies still to discover, so this is self-rewarding.
