Hello,

I recently reinstalled Paratext after reformatting my hard drive and upgrading to Windows 11. Upon loading a saved layout, it prompted me to download some missing resources. The issue is that some of them are already installed, and for some reason it's not recognizing them.

I originally had PT7 on the laptop, then PT8, and I've been using PT9 without issue ever since it came out. But I remember I used to have a folder called something like "My Paratext 8 Projects", which I no longer have.

Should I just recreate the layout manually and then overwrite it, or is there an easier way?

Also, is KJVAM the replacement for KJVA? What is the difference?

Thanks!

Hola Alex.

KJV is the traditional version and KJVAM is a modern English adaptation, with subtle modifications in grammar, vocabulary or punctuation.

Did you close and reopen Paratext after downloading the missing resources (such as the NASB)? In the case of changes that affect files, such as adding/updating a new resource, it is necessary to reopen Paratext to “load” these new files. If even reopening fails, it will be faster if you can open them again and save the Layout with the same name.

If you still have access to the other computer you can move your Layout from the “_WindowCollections” folder in “My Paratext # Projects”.

Saludos,
Pepe.

Alex,

If you have PT8 installed first, then the folder is named My Paratext 8 Projects. When PT9 gets installed it uses that same folder. However, if you do not have a folder called My Paratext 8 Projects and install PT9, then Paratext creates a folder called My Paratext 9 Projects.

Sometimes it is necessary to delete a resource and reinstall it to get Paratext to recognize the resource. The other thing to look for is a folder called _resourcesByiD which can get created if there are duplicated resources. After you check to see which resources are stored there you can close Paratext, delete the folder and then reinstall any needed resources.
