How do I open and use the parallel passages tool?

Question

1. Click in your project to make it the active window.
2. From the Tools menu, select Parallel Passages... to open the parallel passages tool.
   By default, the upper pane of the parallel passages window displays all parallel passages in the current book.
3. Optional: Select one of the following from the drop-down menu to the right of the "Print" button to hide or show Hebrew and Greek source texts.
   • No Hebrew/Greek Text if you want to hide the Hebrew or Greek source text.
   • Hebrew/Greek Text to show the Hebrew or Greek source text.
   • Hebrew/Greek Text and Gloss to show the English glosses along with the Hebrew or Greek source text.
4. Optional: Click the Comparative Texts... button in the Parallel Passages window to add other resources to compare.
5. Optional: Select different options from filters on the toolbar to change the display.
   • The Passage Filter (the first filter on the toolbar) controls which parallel passages to display.
     All References - all parallel passages that match the other filters.
     Unchecked References - parallel passages that have not been marked as finished.
     Changed Text - parallel passages where the text of one of the references has changed since you marked it finished.
     Missing Text - parallel passages where one of the references does not have text.
   • The Verses Filter (the second filter on the toolbar) controls which verses to display. Select an option from the filter to change the display.
   • The Type of Parallel Passage filter (the third filter on the toolbar) controls which kinds of parallel passages to display.
     All Parallels - all parallel passages
     NT/NT - parallel passages within the New Testament
     NT/OT - passages in the New Testament that have a parallel in the Old Testament
     OT/OT - parallel passages within the Old Testament
     Synoptic Gospels - parallel passages in Matthew, Mark, and Luke
6. Navigate to preceding or following parallel passages shown in the upper pane:
   • Press the up-arrow or down-arrow on the keyboard.
   • Click a line of references.
     To navigate to a passage that is not shown in the upper pane, change the Verses Filter to see a wider range of parallel passages or navigate to the next reference in the project window.
7. To indicate that the reference has been checked, click to put a tick in the checkbox at the upper left of a reference. (If you are an observer or do not have permission to approve parallel passages, the checkbox is unavailable.)
   After you click to put a tick in a checkbox, that reference becomes green in the upper pane.
   If the text of a checked reference changes:
   • the reference in the upper pane becomes red,
   • a red question mark appears in the checkbox, and
   • a "Show differences since verse completed" icon appears to the right of the project short name.
     You can click the icon to see the changes.
8. Optional: Save the parallel passage information as an HTML file, or print it.
   To do either of these, use the corresponding button on the toolbar.

Tips:

• If there are one or more parallel passages available for the current verse, the Parallel Passages button on the toolbar (which is normally greyed out), is enabled. If you click this button, the Parallel Passages window will open.
• If you want to insert a project note, click on a reference link for a verse and insert the note.
• If you use the Parallel Passages tool for research instead of checking, make sure to open it for a project or resource which has all books in the Old and New Testaments.
