In Paratext 8.0, follow the instructions in one of the expandable sections below to register a project that has not been migrated, or to register a project that has been migrated.

Register a project that has not been migrated

  1. From the File menu, select Open Project/Resource.
  2. Select Show Paratext 7 projects at the lower left of the "Open Project/Resource" dialog (to see projects created in earlier versions of Paratext).
  3. Select the project you want to register.
  4. Click OK.
In the dialog that appears, there are two steps: "Register" and "Migrate".
  5. In the "Register" step, click Register online..., and then do all of the following:
    • Choose a sign in method, and sign in with your e-mail address and password.
    • Fill in or select drop-down options in the fields of the online registration information.
    • Select one of the following for "Visibility":
Public for a publishable project that can be publicly known.
Test or Training for a project that will not be published.
Confidential for a project in a sensitive location. "Confidential" indicates that the project should not be publicly known and that the identity of project members needs to be kept confidential.
    • Review the FOBAI translation guidelines and read the information about the Digital Bible Library.
You must click Agree to qualify for registration.
    • Click Submit Registration.
The project is now registered and available in Paratext 8.0.
    • If you plan to register other projects, stay signed in. Otherwise, click your name and select Sign Out.
    • Close the online registration website.
If you changed the Full Name, or the language, an orange bar appears in the "Register project" section of the dialog. The orange bar informs you of changes to project properties based on the changes you made.

:checkicon: You can also register a shared project from the Send/Receive Projects command on the File menu.

  1. From the File menu, select Send/Receive Projects....
  2. Select Show Paratext 7 projects at the lower left of the "Send/Receive Projects" dialog (to see projects created in earlier versions of Paratext).
  3. Optional: Point to an inactive project and press Alt + Click to make it active.
  4. Select the project you want to register.
  5. Click Send/Receive (1).
  6. Follow step 5 above to register the project.

To migrate the project, see: How do I migrate a project to Paratext 8?

Register a project that has been migrated

In Paratext 8.0, if you migrated a project but did not register it, do the following:

  1. From the File menu, select Open Project/Resource....
  2. Select the project you want to register and click OK.
  3. From the Project menu, select Project Properties and Settings.
If a pink banner appears, provide the missing information, but do not click OK.
  4. In the Registration box on the General tab of the Project Properties and Settings dialog, click Register online..., and then do all of the following:

A message with a green background appears in the Registration box reporting that the project has been successfully registered.
Click OK to close the Project Properties and Settings dialog.
If there was an orange banner at the upper edge of the project window, the orange banner disappears.

A project does not have to be migrated to Paratext 8 when it is registered. However, you must migrate a project created in an earlier version of Paratext in order to open the project in Paratext 8.

I was under the impression that when you register a project for PT8 there is an option to share it as a resource for others to reference. But when I registered our minority language project over the weekend, I did not see that choice.

Right now, we anon421222’t want our project to be available as a resource, but I have a colleague who has a completed project, and I want to encourage him to agree to share it as a resource – and then help him through the steps required to make that happen.

Thinking further, resources come from the DBL, so now I’m thinking it’s not a PT registry issue. My colleague has his project in the DBL, so I guess what he needs to do is change a parameter there – am I correct?

Yes, sharing a project as a resource is now done by uploading the project to DBL and then allowing Paratext users to download it. @anon020041 can probably tell you exactly what needs to be done inside DBL to make it available to PT users.

Your colleague will need to fill out an online form to request that the DBL entry be released as a Paratext resource.

@wdavidhj if your colleague is has DBL account with role as licensor, he can grant go to the entry’s page and there’s a section under Paratext Resource Permissions that can be used to activate the entry as a Paratext resource. Otherwise, they will need to use the form in my previous reply

I’m responsible for publishing and, in cooperation with the SIL country leader, for licensing all the languages of our country of service. How can I get the role of licensor for these translations in the DBL?

舊文章 - 以原文顯示

@wdavidhj do you have a DBL account login? If so, you’d need to ask an organization administrator to grant you that access. For SIL that would be Lois Gourley or Alan Conner. Otherwise, you’ll just need to fill out the Resource request form as I mentioned in this reply: How do I register a project in Paratext 8?

No.

I thought that there are very tight restrictions on who can have a DBL login, no?

Is my contact @anon467281 an administrator, too? He’s my area representative for the DBL – the guy I submit texts to, who then resubmits them to the DBL.

@wdavidhj okay @anon467281 should be able to make this a PT resource for you. If not he’d know whom to talk to.

If you want to register a project as Confidential, the instructions says that existing Paratext users will need to register a new, pseudonymous account. If you have a consultant on this type of project who is already a translator and consultant on one or more non-confidential projects and who is usually using Paratext with his real name and non-pseudonym email address under Tools > Registration Information, does that mean that this person will have to change the information there to his pseudonym name and email address, as well as the registration code linked to that, every time he is going to work on the confidential project? Unless he does that, I guess his real name will be showing up for every note he inserts.
