Has anyone else had this issue and know a fix? I’m running Paratext 9.3.103.7 and Keyman 16.0.138. When I switch to the IPA Unicode 6.2 (v.1.3) KMN keyboard, it works in other programs but won’t type anything in Paratext. I don’t use this keyboard often in Paratext, but I noticed it happening a week or two ago, and thought it was because I had just turned on Keyman.

I see on this page that IPA Unicode 6.2 is a MSKLC keyboard (written using Microsoft tools and not Keyman).

There is also an IPA Keyman keyboard and you can use the configuration tool of Keyman to install it.

Not sure why a Keyman update would affect the MSKLC keyboard. Maybe check the keyboard settings on your project (Project menu > Project settings > Keyboard…) to see if the keyboard can be selected for automatic switching.

I have the keyboards set to (Do not switch keyboards). It was one of the options for automatic switching.

We haven’t updated that one in years. Try using this keyboard and if you still have problems, then do submit a report:

As you both have suggested, I switched to the current SIL IPA keyboard. In any case, it exhibits the same behavior as the other one. It works in other programs but doesn’t type anything in Paratext. Should I be submitting a report in Paratext or in Keyman? If I need to submit a report in Keyman, I’ll need directions on how to submit one. I can run diagnostics in Keyman, but I don’t see a place to make a report.

I’m not much of a Paratext user altho I have access to Paratext. I have PT v9.3 and Keyman for Windows 15.0.274. I can open Paratext and create a new project. Select the IPA (SIL) keyboard and I’m able to begin using the IPA keyboard without problems.

Two points that may be relevant. I think the old keyboard you were using was associated with Icelandic or some language like that. We no longer do that as that is considered bad practice. The new keyboard is associated with the und-Latn (undetermined) language tag. Is it possible there is some language association in your Paratext project that is affecting the keyboard selection?

Ok. That was it. Paratext was still showing the old IPA keyboard as the option, so it was trying to use a keyboard that was no longer installed. After closing Paratext and restarting, it recognized the correct keyboard, which is also working correctly. Thank you.
