Paratext Lite: White Screen will not start

Question

I just fielded an email from a team who is reporting that Paratext lite just flashes a white screen and will not launch. This occurs after multiple restarts.
The team says it was working fine before today, but is not working today (31 August 2022).
Any ideas? I’ve never really used Paratext Lite much less attempted to resolve an issue.

Try updating “Android System WebView” from the play store.

1. On Android device open “Play Store” app.
2. Search for “Android System WebView”. (Note ignore any matches with the words “Dev” or “Beta” in them)
3. Update (or install) this app.
   4 Start Paratext Lite again.

I’m guessing that the cause of this is:

1. An older version of Android is being used.
2. Paratext Lite on the device recently updated to a newer version.

relaying what the team said: The update is taking a long time, and that may be a bandwidth issue on the far end. So they cancelled the update and are going to work outside of Paratext for now as they have limited time with their more remote team members. I’ve suggested that they kick off the update near the end of the work period and let it run it’s course. I’m still waiting on tablet specs.
