Paratext Testimonials and Success Stories

Question

As a translation advisor, I have really enjoyed using Paratext for the past 8 years or so. It has been a great resource for our mother-tongue translators. Although many of them do not have much prior experience with computers, they are able to learn Paratext and use it well. I greatly appreciate the way in which the developers are attentive to the needs of different teams around the world, both in terms of features and help with technical problems. In the time that I have used Paratext, it has continued to mature, becoming more useful to beginners and power-users.

For the past 15 years (until October 2020), I worked very closely with the new Afrikaans (2020) translation team. The team leader, Prof Bernard Combrink was part of the previous Afrikaans 1983 translation team. He shared stories of how the translation processes worked back in the days (without computers). I have a lot of respect for what they managed to do without Paratext. We are truly blessed with this amazing piece of software.

Our translation team has not always been able to do its work in the same place. Paratext’s “Send/Receive Projects” feature has enabled us to share our work with each other via the internet, and that had greatly contributed to our progress. We can also write notes to each other or to ourselves within the program, and then resolve those notes when the issues are taken care of. We very much appreciate these and other useful features built into the software.
