The Paratext Registry search only seems to do whole word searches. If I open the list of users I see:


But if I type “Kata” in the search field I get:

Only when I type the full name “Katang” do I get results:

Surely making it a partial word search wouldn’t be that difficult, and it would be a lot more useful, especially when you aren’t really sure of the spelling of a name. You could limit it to partial word only at the beginning of a word, if you felt that was necessary. (So “kata” would find “Katang” but not “tokata”.) Thanks for considering it…

Unfortunately this would be difficult to implement because the indexing system we are using to perform the searches does not support partial matches. But I’ll keep it in mind in case we ever change to a different database system.
