I have a user trying to install both Paratext 8 patch 8.0.100.84 and Paratext 9 (not at the same time…). For both installations she gets a message that the installation cannot be done because Paratext is open. But she has restarted her computer to make sure it is not open. (I assume if Paratext was included in Windows startup that something would at least appear on the screen.) Any thoughts?

I have also seen several people have issues with this. What I have found works is to run:
C:\Programs Files (x86)\Paratext 8\ParatextForceShutdown.exe
when the message pops up saying that Paratext is open {even though it isn’t}. It will take a few seconds to run and then eventually the installer realises that whatever was holding it back has been shutdown, and it continues the installation process.
Let me know if this solved it (for both PT8 and PT9 like it did for my users).

This took care of the problem, both for the update of Paratext 8, and the new installation of Paratext 9. Thanks, Mark!
