I’m supporting a user who when trying to start a new paragraph cannot just enter “\p”. If he enters “” the menu pops up, but “\p” is not an option in the menu. If he types “\p” the next “p” entry shows (I don’t have Paratext installed at the moment) and not the general \p paragraph entry. He has to either delete the extra characters to get to \p or copy and paste it from elsewhere, then Paratext will recognize it and make a new paragraph.

This also occurs with \s.

He’s also using Keyman 10 with the EWTS Tibetan Keyboard, if that helps.

Thanks,

Hello anon482869,
I had the same question a little while ago and learned that if you type \p and then hit ENTER, you’ll get the \p. The same holds for \s and \b.

I found the forum post where people helped answer my question

Thanks MSEAIT/LT, hitting space instead of enter after typing \p or \s did the trick.

I am replying to the inner thread “I am not able to break out of \q1 by typing \b.”

The reason Paratext is making the sequence of two paragraph markers difficult for you to type is because a sequence of two paragraph markers is not best practice. In fact, if you run the marker check, you will see an error message.

When publishing, we define the space between different types of paragraphs as part of their paragraph style and so adding a \b is unnecessary and makes inconsistent formatting much more likely.
