When exporting to RTF if you give the verse numbers 0-9 then the backslash codes all show in the RTF. If you change the number to 1-9 it will display without them. THe downside is chapter and headings disappear.

I’ve reported this bug. I’m hoping it can be fixed. I imagine some would argue RTF is old and less important than other bugs, but our team uses this export option extensively for printing out sections of text to do community comprehension testing.

I found a workaround. Do this: export the chapter specifying v1-9.
Then do the export to RTF specifying v0-9.
Now open both .RTF files in Notepad++, and copy the entire stylesheet “header” from the well formed RTF document and paste it at the beginning of the badly formed RTF document.
Save.
Reopen the “fixed” RTF document in Word. It should open just fine. (This kind of hack is critical for non-canonical text, like glossaries, etc. where there are no verse numbers at all.)

So the bug is the export to RTF is not including the Header and Style info when we select the starting verse to be 0.
