It seems that the PT7 s/r server is inaccessible right now. I’ve confirmed this with people on the other side of the globe too (so know that it isn’t local).

Does anyone have an idea of what might be wrong, and when it is likely to be fixed by?
Thanks
Mark

Yes, I am having the same problem. This suddenly happened straight out of the blue. Worked fine all the time until this morning. Nothing changed in my internet setup, and the internet works just fine. I am currently doing some consultant work in Asia and am on a tight schedule. Need to get this fixed urgently. Any help would be greatly appreciated

anon233143, If it is urgent (and the fix doesn’t seem imminent), then you can use Paratext Live (over the internet server) and then use the option to “Exchange all files” and that way you can synchronize 2 or more computers’ Paratext project(s). Hope that works for you. I think the versions of Paratext need to be similarly close enough (not necessarily identical).

Mark, thanx for that tip. That is a good idea and I will certainly try it if this doesn’t get fixed. It’s just that I never used the live option before so I didn’t even think of it. Thanks.

The most recent versions of PT 7.5 and PT 7.6 will work with each other
in Paratext Live. PT 8.0 will not work with PT 7.x in Paratext Live.

If there are too many differences between the versions of a project on
two computers then Paratext Live will not be able to synchronize them.
In other words, if you want Paratext Live to do the job of S/R, don’t
wait too long between synchronizations.

PT7 s/r server right now?

The Paratext 7 server still seems to be down, as of Sunday 30th April at 10:00 GMT.

It seems that the http://pt8.paratext.org/ server is also down. So I’m guessing that this is related.

Fortunately for us, we’re able to use Paratext Live! (to keep each other in sync) while working in this consultant-checking session; so we’re not really affected. But if the problem persists, we’re going to have more difficulty.

Yes, I’ve been in touch with the Paratext team directly about this. They are currently trying to reload the server software from a backup, and it is taking longer than anticipated. It is likely to be several more hours - but hopefully will be back up and running by Sunday night/Monday morning. That’s my best guess right now.

It is working again now. Thank you to all those who have worked to get it going again!
