I am not seeing clear instruction on USFM documentation on how to handle \xq and \xta, etc. within \xdc. Our translators have marked up the following:

\x - \xo 11:5 \xk Henog ... weggeneem het: \xt Gen 5:24 \xta (volgens die •Septuagint); \xdc Sir 44:16; Wys 4:10; \xq 1 Hen \xta 70:1-4 •Pseudepigrawe\x*

but I suspect that the \xq and \xta no longer fall under the \xdc and will print in a non-DC Bible layout.

  • Should they be \+xq and \+xta?
  • Should the Sir 44:16 be preceded by \+xt?
  • Or, should the translator be using nested formatting tag instead e.g. \+it?

Sorry for the repeat question. For some reason, my previous query of this disappeared.

Fortunately, I found an answer to this in my email. \xdc (and \fdc) are now discouraged and \dc ... \dc* are preferred.

Thanks @Phil_Leckrone for responding previously.

So,

\x - \xo 11:5 \xk Henog ... weggeneem het: \xt Gen 5:24 \xta (volgens die •Septuagint); \xdc Sir 44:16; Wys 4:10; \xq 1 Hen \xta 70:1-4 •Pseudepigrawe\x*

changes to

\x - \xo 11:5 \xk Henog ... weggeneem het: \xt Gen 5:24 \xta (volgens die •Septuagint)\xt \+dc ; Sir 44:16; \+dc*\xta \+dc Wys 4:10; 1 Hen 70:1-4 •Pseudepigrawe\+dc*\x*
