Hello,

For the past several months I have been using Paratext with Parallels Windows 11. Until recently everything worked well, but in the past few days Paratext has become very sluggish, taking several seconds to respond to commands. I tried adjusting the amount of memory allocated to Parallels, but that didn’t make a difference. Other programs run normally. What else should I look for?

It’s probably also a good idea to check to make sure that no Paratext pane was switched to showing an entire book instead of just a chapter.

It’s hard to give any specific advice since there are many possible causes for a virtual machine to be slow.

You could start with Task manager in Windows to see what is using the most CPU and memory on the system.

If it is Paratext, you could try saving your current window layout so you can get it back easily and then start closing some windows to see if there is a point where Paratext starts performing better.

There are other tools available, but maybe that’s enough for a start.

According to Task Manager, Paratext is using about 1,365 MB of RAM, and FieldWorks 135 MB (Totally 52% of available memory). So it doesn’t seem to be overloaded with other programs. I’ve restarted the virtual machine several times, but the problem persists.

Thank you anon291708! That was it. I had seen that as an option and clicked on it for my main project. It is handy to be able to scroll though whole books like that, but it really slows things down.
