I’m using Paratext 9 in Windows 10. I have installations of Paratext on two computers. On one of them, the Paratext folder is in “Documents”. I have found that location awkward for my backup system. I’d like to move it to a different location. Is there a way to do that?

We recommend installing Paratext in the default location, which is C:\My Paratext 9 Projects.

The best way to do this is to uninstall and reinstall Paratext to make a change to My Paratext Projects folder location.

Here are a couple of key points for doing this:

  1. Before uninstalling:
    a. Save your current layout (Paratext menu > Save current layout).
  2. When uninstalling:
    a. You must click “Remove settings”:

  3. After uninstalling:
    a. Cut and paste the My Paratext 9 Project folder to the new location.
  4. When reinstalling, change the My Paratext Projects folder location:
    a. Click the Change button under My Paratext Projects folder:

    b. Choose the new location (We recommend the default location, which is C:\My Paratext 9 Projects).
    c. Click OK
  5. Continue with the installation

@james_post, The reason we changed the behavior in 9.3 is because the procedure in 9.2 can cause problems. I would strongly suggest no one do that anymore. See this for a little more information.

The procedure for 9.3 should also work just fine in 9.2 and earlier.

Thank you very much everybody. I have reinstalled Paratext using the uninstall/reinstall method. And it seems to be working.
